"Navy Oxford Bags" from TEDER #001

1924, at the University of Oxford, when the school administration supposedly banned the wearing of knickerbockers. As a rebellion students decided to keep wearing even exaggerated, even bigger pants - but it was to wear over knickerbockers, to hide them. It's called "Oxford Bags" by Oxonians. As the trend of huge trousers moved beyond Oxford—it came to the U.S. very quickly. 

1924년 옥스퍼드 대학교에서 학교 행정부가 Knickerbockers(통이 큰바지)의 착용을 금지했을 때 이에 대한 반발심으로 Knickerbockers를 가리기 위해 위에 입을 수 있는 더 크고 통이 넓은 바지를 만들어 입기 시작했는데 학생들은 이를 "옥스포드 백"이라고 명칭했습니다. 이 트렌드는 옥스포드 대학 담장을 넘어 미국에 까지 빠르게 퍼져 나갔습니다.

 It might sound fairly ridiculous the youngsters came up with this silly idea wearing even bigger pants in order to wear the baggy pants they love so much underneath. But still it is delightful to see their passion on their style!
